Biography:
Mehdi Noormohammadi, film director and producer (documentary filmmaker)

Mehdi Noormohammadi, the creator of A Shelter of Oaks, was born in Ilam, a city in the west part of Iran in 1979. He received an associate degree from the Culture and Art School of Tehran. He started filmmaking with taking short-term courses and then made a few 8 millimeter short films in the Iranian Young Cinema Society. He then started working with the television channels of Ilam as a cinematographer and continued his job in television news and programs for four years. He had several years of experience in television as an editor, boom operator, director and producer. He successfully completed a one year course of filmmaking in Iran Broadcasting University and kept making films, movie series and short films under different titles.

He made his first documentary film "Crossing the Lands of Alameto" for the Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization.
After the success he gained by making this documentary, he was offered to make two episodes of the documentary series Kabir Kuh.
The success of this series let him create other documentary projects for television as well.

So far he has dozens of long and short documentaries made in various genres which have won numerous awards in International Festival of Cinema Verite, Fajr International Film Festival and the Festivals of Iranian Young Cinema Society, etc.
The documentary film "A Shelter of Oaks" is Mehdi Noormohammadi's first experience in the field of wildlife documentaries.
Making of this documentary took nearly four years including 400 days of shooting.
