The mountain village Intermesoli, province of Teramo, is dwindling. Young Simone, silent heir of memories and traditions, reluctantly takes on responsibility for the village and learns something new. Nearby lives Filippo who is gradually distancing himself from the others, retreating into a spiritual and mental hermitage in his search for identity and faith. Both men share in the oppressing silence, reckoning with their limitations and inner compromises, under the watchful eye of the others who, unawares, overwhelm their life and fate.
