Turin is the first city in the world to have a part of metropolitan territory recognised as a Biosphere Reserve, an international qualification awarded by Unesco under the Man and Biosphere MAB programme for the conservation and protection of the landscape, its habitats and ecosystems. This is the Collina Po reserve, a unique territory for its environmental richness in the vicinity of an urban centre, covering 1700 square kilometres around the small municipality of San Raffaele Cimena. A place where sustainable cultivation, such as that of rice, is part of history, restoring Nature's ability to mark time.
