On the largest of the three Aran islands, Inish Moor, Flaherty shot his Man of Aran. Today its inhabitants live on fishing and tourism. Flaherty told the story of the desperate fight between man and the sea. This film show us a less spectacular side of life on the islands, the story of some inhabitants and of their work. We meet Rory, who builds curraghs, the traditional Irish West Coast boats that were so important in Flaherty's documentary.
