In the Maasai villages of Kenya it is the women who build the houses, from cattle dung moulded by hand. In this society of shepherds and warriors, it is the women who are the true centre of the community; trough the education of children and the passing on of habits unchanged through generations, they guarantee the continuity of traditions. But it is also the women's job to do the hardest work in the village and family. They have to build the houses, collect wood, milk the cows and go and collect water, which is often dozens of kilometres away.
