Pom Poko

by Isao Takahata 1994 118'

Japan, 2006. A group of tanuki, animals physically resembling raccoons but members of the canid family, are forced to leave their natural habitat in the hills around Tokyo because of pressure from urban development. Finding themselves increasingly without food or shelter, they join forces to defend their homeland through the ancient art of transformation they have perfected, thanks to their ability to walk on two legs like humans. Produced by the Studio Ghibli, based on an idea by Hayao Miyazaki, the film won the Best Feature Award at Annecy.<%YOUTUBE=2EHX8yplmLc%>
