China Blue

by Micha X. Peled Documentary Usa 2006 88'

China Blue, a journey into the work conditions in a jeans factory in China, tells the story of two young workers, Jasmine and Orchid, who leave their villages in search of fortune. The guiding thread is their experience between grinding routine and dreams of an easier life. The film reveals the severe lack of workers' rights in China and the pressure Western countries exert on the developing countries: the economics of price-cutting and cut-throat competition. Filmed under enormous difficulty and blocked by the Chinese authorities, the film has won numerous awards at major international film festivals. <%YOUTUBE=t2GD8rPM5Pk%>
