Moro no Brasil

I Live in Brazil
by Mika Kaurismaki Documentary Germania, Brasile, Finlandia 2002 105'

This is a real "road movie". More than 4000 kilometres on the roads of Brazilian sounds, not just samba and bossa-nova. The most relevant steps are in Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, with their various music styles, as frevo,  maracatu, coÌ‚co, embolada, forró. This is the way to show, with ludic exacteness, the multicultural shape of Brazilian music carrying on the sholulders centuries of colonization, musical instruments, rhythms, melodies, through successful syncretism involving natives, Africans, Europeans. This kind of music belongs to everybody, it is played on the roads and it is able to communicate all thoughts and feelings. The director enjoyed to make us listening and understanding this music among the folk of his country of adoption.<%YOUTUBE=MmIQYqCLJeM%>
