Peppe Ruggiero (b. 1967, Cercola, Naples) has worked as a professional journalist since 1993. He has collaborated with the Naples editorial office of «L’Unità» and with «Il Mattino». He currently writes for the weekly «Left» and the monthlies «Narcomafie» and «La Nuova Ecologia». Since 1997 he has co-edited the Ecomafia report for Legambiente. He is press officer for Legambiente Campania and Libera-Nomi, numeri e associazioni contro le mafie; since 1996 he has headed the press office and organizing secretariat of Festambiente, an international environmental festival held in Grosseto. He has edited two dossiers, “Racket degli animali” (1998) and “Cernobyl” (2000) and the white book “Radiografia dei traffici illetici-Dieci anni di rifiuti S.P.A.” (2004). His book Terre tremule appeared on the 20th anniversary of the Irpinia earthquake; he collaborated with Gianni Amelio on La terra è fatta così, a documentary film on the same topic. He codirected the film Biutiful Cauntri (2007) with Esmeralda Calabria and Andrea D’Ambrosio.
