Alfio Bastiancich has a liberal arts degree and an MBA from the SDA Bocconi; he is a free lance journalist and TV author and executive producer. Since 1995 he has worked as consultant for RAI Trade and creator and director of Cartoons on the Bay, one of the sector’s main annual events promoted by RAI. He was administrative board member of the National Museum of Cinema, Turin, founder of “Lanterna Magica”, and editor on «Animafilm», an international film review. Book author and essayist, he has also curated various TV shows for RAI. Since 1985 he has taught at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, for which he set up the Animation Department, Chieri, in 2001. He was founder member and general secretary of the National Association of Authors and Producers (Asifa), and administrative board member of the EC Media Cartoon plan, on which he collaborated in defining strategies for industrial development of animated films in Italy and Europe. «Animation Magazine» has recently listed him as one of the 15 most influential names in international animation.
