Studied political science in Germany and Italy before setting up his art film movie house, Eiszeit, Berlin, in 1981 which he managed for the next nine years. He has been director of the Berlin Interfilm short film festival since its inception in 1982, and is currently director of Going Underground, a film program of shorts with a maximum running time of 90 seconds, presented on Berlin’s subway trains. He is also co-founder of the Zebra Award, Poetry Film Award.
