Since 1986 Verdicchio has taught literature, film, cultural studies, and environmental literature in the Department of Literature at the University of California San Diego. As a translator he has published the works of Pasolini, Merini, Caproni, Porta, and Zanzotto among others. His poetry, criticism, and translations have been published by Guernica Editions and other publishers in the US and Canada. He was awarded the 2015 Muir Environmental Fellowship by Muir College, University of California at San Diego.
