Veterinarian and activist, her areas of interest are bioethics, zooanthropolgy, protection of the marine environment, environmental sustainability, and denied rights. She is a member of the board of the Institute for Platform on Alternative Methods (IPAM) for eliminating experiments on animals, and was councilor to the Ministry of the Environment for biodiversity, the protection and rights of animals during the 15th legislature (2006-2008). She is scientific director of the National Agency for the Protection of Animals. She authored for Feltrinelli Video the texts accompanying the documentary films The Cove (2010) and Project Nim (2010).
