Markus CM Schmidt worked as film projectionist and editor before attending the Konrad Wolf Academy for Film and Television Potsdam-Babelsberg. He directed Freedom2speak v2.0, a documentary on the U.S. military inter- vention in Iraq, screened at the 2003 Berlinale.
