Has worked on photography assignments for National Geographic, Life, and Paris Match. He founded GoodPlanet, a non-profit foundation that promotes sustainable development. He is the au- thor of over 60 photography books and creator of the "La Terre vue par le ciel" project. The project was started up in 1994 and sponsored by UNESCO; it comprises a traveling exhibition and a book on which the feature film (made in 2004) of the same name was based. Since 2006 he has been in- volved in the "Vue du ciel" television documentary series. His more recent directorial film credits include: Home, Of Forests and Men and Desertification (2011), two shorts for the United Nations; and, together with Thierry Piantanida and Baptiste Rouget-Luchaire, A Thirsty World (2012) for the World Water Forum.
