Silvestro Greco

Biologist Italy

Silvestro Greco (b. 1957) earned a degree in biological sciences from the University of Messina and is member of the Italian Society of Marine Biology, the Oceanographic and Limnologic Association, and the Society for Marine Mammalogy. Since 1981 he has done research and worked on national and international technicalscientific committees for the protection of the marine environment and biodiversity. Between 1989 and 2000 he took part in various research expeditions, including six to the Antarctic within the national research program. Between 1988 and 2000 he was researcher at the Oceanographic Institute of the National Research Council, and between 2001 and 2008 was research director at the Central Institute for Applied Marine Scientific and Technical Research (ICRAM). Since 2004 he has taught animal production at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, Pollenzo. He is currently Environment and Water Protection Commissioner for the Region of Calabria.
