Received a Ph.D. in genetics population research and an MA in cinema studies and film direction in Spain. He founded and currently directs the Global Eco Film Festival, Zurich. He has directed numerous fiction and documentary films in Spain, Switzerland, and Kenya, focusing on science and environmental topics. He trained as a biologist; he combines his scientific background with cinema and teaching through courses entitled “Filmmaking for Scientists", "Storytelling Science", and "Filmmaking Marathon" at universities and research institutes in Switzerland and Germany. He also conducts research in the fields of genetics, pathology, and forensics. He is active in initiatives to protect wildlife and elephants.
