SCEC is the acronym of "Solidarietà che cammina". It is a voucher issued by the Arcipelago Scec association with which members, private citizens, professionals or companies, recognize payment for economic or commercial transactions. Other such schemes are the Member Organized Resource Exchange System ([MORES] in the United States), The Local Exchange Trading System ([LETS] in the United Kingdom and Australia), and the Robust Complementary Community Currency System ([ROCS] in England). The objective, as Elena Viglino explains, is to anchor wealth to the local area and to invest it in the circuit, thus promoting local production. Members who use the system value human relationships over purely commercial ones, prioritizing quality, zero-km, and respect for the environment.
