Stephen
Daldry began his career at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre, before becoming
artistic director of the Gate Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre, both London.
He has directed stage productions at the National Theatre, the Public Theater,
New York, as well as on Broadway and the West End. He has directed programs for
BBC Radio and Television. His films Billy
Elliot, The Hours, The Reader, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close have garnered him 19 nominations
and two Oscars. He was executive creative producer of the opening and
closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
