Produced by Settimana Incom for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the unification of Italy at the centennial exhibition "Italia 61", Dove nasce il Po follows the meanderings of the Po river from its Alpine source at Monviso to Torino. The photography of Vladi Orengo reveals the Po's physical landscape as well as the history and culture of the people who have lived alongside its shores - from the spartan mountain dwellings to the beauty of Saluzzo and the Staffarda Abby. At Cavour we see the home of early 20th century Italian political leader Giovanni Giolitti, while Carlo Casalegno ... sitting at the statesman's desk ... describes certain Piedmontese archetypes in great detail. And the Po flows on, stretching out across the plain. From the countrysiode we can already spot the small city of Carignano and the Moncalieri Castle. We've reached the outskirts of Torino, as we pass "Italia 61".
