The film was commissioned and produced by the residents of Valledora, an area of about 300 square km between the provinces of Vercelli and Biella, and home to the nuclear waste deposits of Trino, two thermoelectric plants at Livorno Ferraris, and the incinerator at Vercelli; crossed by busy highways and the high-speed Milan-Turin railway line; pocked by innumerable quarries and dumping sites. At Alice Castello alone 2.5 million cubic meters of garbage are stocked; the list of candidate sites (Cavaglià, Santhià, Tronzano, and elsewhere around Valledora) is endless. Area residents and environmentalist associations, united in the Valledora Movement and Women of Santhià coalitions have been trying to break down the wall of indifference and silence. <%YOUTUBE=A6oef565WCE%>
