In a snow-covered village in Tuscany in the late winter of 1890, a mummified body is found behind a tree stump. The discovery becomes the talk of the village. Though no one knows where the body came from or its identity, the parish priest keeps it as a precious relic in the village church, unaware of its rebellious and indomitable nature on being reawakened.
