Thank You for the Rain

Grazie per la pioggia
by Julia Dahr, Kisilu Musya Documentary Denmark 2017 90'

Over the last 5 years Kisilu, a smallholder farmer in Kenya, has used his camera to capture the life of his family, his village, and the impacts of climate change. Floods, droughts, and higher living costs: his kids are sent home from school when he can't pay the fees; men are moving to towns in search for jobs; and family tensions rise. When a violent storm brings him and a Norwegian filmmaker together, we see him transformed from a father to a farmers' community leader and activist on the global stage. Their message of hope arrives to break the official status of the 2015 Paris Climate Talks in (COP21), shedding light on the many citizens' movements seeking justice and solutions. After the screening, meeting with Elizabeth Wambui Mwangi (Women in Water and Sanitation Association, KENYA), Jeongha Kim e Carolina Starr (FAO) and Ana Belén Sanchez (FundaciÁ³n Alternativas), Angelina Ama Tutuah Mensah, Environmental Protection Agency, GHANA
