Based on a Japanese legend, the movie tells the story of a war between two populations and the terrible divinities threatening Nature. In a far village the last Emishi warrior, Ashitaka, is forced to kill a monster to protect his people. But he finds out that the creature he killed in reality is a God from the Sherwood. Being damned, he leaves to discover the divinity and kill it.
