For forty years the indiff erence of the Italian ruling class about the petrochemical sector caused the death of hundreds of workers affected by prolonged exposure to toxic substances. Over that period of time Gabriele Bartolozzo, a worker fighting against the P orto Marghera industry, collected evidence which led to one of the most famous Italian tr ials. Despite the charge of manslaughter and environmental disaster, the manager s of the biggest factory in Europe have been recently acquitted.
