Breathtaking

Mozzafiato
by Kathleen Mullen 2010 43'

The idea for this film on the economic and social burden of asbestos mining and use, once considered a bane but now banned in many countries because of its cancerogenous effects, derived from a family tragedy involving Mullen's father who died of an asbestos-related disease. The film starts by using photos, Super 8 sequences and legal documentation to tell her family's story; it then follows her enquiry into asbestos use in Canada, a world leader in asbestos mining and export to the developing countries.<%YOUTUBE=TABJbUSaRag%>
