More Than Honey

First reported in North America in 2006, colony collapse disorder has since then spread to the major honey producing countries of Europe. Even scientists have no ready explanations for the sudden disappearance of colonies. As bees are essential for pollination, massive death can wreck havoc with ecosystems. Based on research carried out over 5 years, Markus Imhoof presents a compelling portrait of the industrious honey bee, bred for centuries, and the increasing threats to its health from the use of certain pesticides in agriculture.
