Indonesia today. A boat slowly travels down a large river sur- rounded by nature. What emerge from the flow of images cut by black-out sequences are the signs of human civilization: piles of garbage cover the riverbanks, trash hangs from trees, a city skyline on the horizon. While an off-camera voice narrates excerpts from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, we enter a world invaded by refuse and garbage, where fishermen cast their nets in the hope of catching something, children play in the water, and goats graze for food.
