Earth Days

I giorni della Terra
by Robert Stone Documentary USA 2009 102'

The beginning of environmental awareness in the U.S., from the first reactions to post-war consumerism to Earth Day (22 April 1970) when 20 million Americans, 10% of the then population, marched to show that the only alternative to impending environmental disaster was echo-compatibility. Interweaving exclusive testimonials (environmentalist pioneers Denis Hayes and Paul Ehrlic; Stewart Udall, secretary under presidents Kennedy and Johnson and first green politician; Rusty Schweickart, Apollo 9 astronaut) with rare archive footage, Stone chronicles the battles, conquests, and defeats of the American green movement, reflecting on the various often diverging environmental policies the government adopted in the past 40 years.<%YOUTUBE=6r6J_LtgC8A%>
