When more than 1 billion Chinese migrate from rural to urban areas, this population shift will have enormous repercussions on the country and the entire planet. Two potential solutions to the problem are under study; both are metropolitan models of modern utopia but they differ radically in approach. The one, designed by the Finnish engineer, Eero Paloheimo, is an ecosustainable Silicon Valley project, while the other is an ecocity high-rise project promoted by the Chinese multimillionare, Zhang Yue.
