A journey into the soundscape of the Amazonian forest of Ecuador. A sensorial, scientific, and poetic experience guided by David Monacchi, researcher, eco-acoustic composer, and author of Fragments of Extinction, a multidisciplinary project. For the first time, the sounds of this ancient ecosystem have been recorded in 3D, documenting millions of years of evolution. Climate change, drought, oil mining operations, and technical difficulties in setting up the sound recording equipment on location posed challenges Monacchi had to overcome in order to preserve sounds that one day will be silenced.
