Doigts de Fée

Fairy Fingers
by Edgar Soldevilla Documentary Canada 2000 51'

A survey on the efforts made by OIT (International Work Organization) in Pakistan to fight the exploitation of children in football and surgical instrument factories. Some of the interviewed people underline the exceptional quality of juvenile labour force, claiming it is an unavoidable step in the economic development of the country. Others maintain that children's work is indispensable to their families' survival. Following a campaign launched by CISL (one of the main Italian Trade Unions), OIT started a project in the village of Sialkot aiming at the regulation and reduction of children's work. Doigts De Fée analyzes its results showing a moving picture of how the village inhabitants are trying to improve their children's future.
