Racing to Zero

Corsa verso lo zero
by Christopher Beaver 2014 57'

Garbage, disappearing natural resources, destroyed oceans, the stakes are higher than ever, is there anything that we, individually, can still do about it? Strangely enough the answer is yes. Racing To Zero presents new solutions to these global problems. Three years ago the mayor of San Francisco pledged to achieve zero waste by 2020. We followed this city's trail of trash, behind-the-scenes, to track the possibility and made a great discovery. The simple substitution of the word "resource" for the word "garbage" transformed a culture, producing a wealth of new industries, and a surprising race to zero.A meeting with Walter Facciotto (president of the Italian National Packaging Consortium (CONAI) and Massimiliano Tellini (expert in circular economy) will be held after the showing. Moderator: Claudia Apostolo (journalist).
