In 1991, over six thousand gold diggers invade the Nambiquara Indians'reservation in Sarare. At the same time, wood companies sack the forests full of mahogany trees, an endangered species in Amazonia. The Mato Grosso's government, under pressure from the World Bank which has granted them a loan, make the invaders retreat.
But the sack of gold and wood goes on by the multinationals, which can act undisturbed.
