Çapulcu - Voices from Gezi

Çapulcu - Voci da Gezi

Gezi Park, one of Istanbul's smallest parks, is located in Taksim Square, in the BeyoÄŸlu district. In May 2013, the plan to build a shopping center over the park triggered an antigovernment protest that was cruelly put down, claiming nine victims and over 8000 injured. Through the testimony of students, professionals, reporters, and activists who took part in one of the most dramatic events in Turkish history, the film recounts the peaceful occupation of the park and the enthusiasm of protesters, until crushed by the brutal reaction of an increasingly repressive government.
