The film takes us into the economic, environmental, and human workings of milk production, starting from man’s discovery of this animal product eons ago and the eternal question of why cows make milk. Thus starts our journey into the world of humans, animals, and milk and how our relationship with all that’s dairy has changed: livestock raising and intensive farming, market growth that matches production levels, high competition, poorly controlled new products put on the market.
The dairy chain has not been kind to the animals or the farming families who thought they would share its benefits but learned that no support was to be expected from the organizations representing them or the interests of consumers. There is still a ray of hope for the environment, the animals, the economic gains achieved with selected innovative, biological, non-invasive methods. The film offers an exhaustive examination of the topic, giving a critical analysis of the positive and negative aspects of the dairy chain and an overview of good practices that are gradually being implemented.
