Director of documentaries for German and international TV channels and cinema, Thurn has won numerous national and international awards, including the German Environmental Media Award, Atlantis Best Film, Eating City Special Award, and Econsense Journalist Award. His film Taste the Waste has been seen by more than 130,000 viewers in Germany alone and has been shown on TV in more than 30 countries worldwide. It has been awarded various times, together with the sequel Food Savers and the best-seller about the same topic, food waste. His new film 10 Billion – What’s on Your Plate? about solutions to feed the world had its cinema release in 2015 and is accompanied, again, by a book and an online campaign.
