Jharana Jhaveri

Jharana Jhaveri (originally from Bombay) and Anur agh Singh (of tribal origins, in the Madhya Pradesh district, which now lies under water as a result of the construction of the Bargidam) have been working together since 1991 under the Jan Madhyam label. Their goal is to provide "a megaphone for voices that no one listens to." They have made a dozen documentar ies on civil battles and human conditions, from the Santhal tribe resistance movement to protests by miners in Chattisgarh; from exiled Burmese students' peace efforts in India to the horrid working conditions of rickshaw drivers; from reports on homeless rur al immigrants in big cities to battles for people's rights to be informed.
