Jos de Putter (b. the Netherlands) studied political science and literature at the University of Leiden. He has collaborated with the film journal "Skrien" and with various Dutch broadcasters. Films he has directed include Het is een schone dag geweest (1993), Solo, the Law of Favela (1994), The Making of a New Empire (1999), Noch zijn ezel (2000), and Dans, Grozny dans - The Damned and the Sacred (2002), winner of the Best Documentary Award at CinemAmbiente 2003, Brooklyn Stories (2002), Alias Kurban Said (2004) and How Many Roads (2006).
