A trained biologist, her interests are nature and animals. She worked extensively in marine ecosystems, monitoring the flora and fauna in the Mediterranean and the Maldives through a project with the Università Bicocca di Milano. She is a member of the scientific commission on the European Endangered Species (EEP) program for the monitoring and management of African penguins in Europe. In 2006 she joined the staff of ZOO, contributing to the construction of a biopark, of which she currently its scientific director, head of the educational department, and coordinator of projects for wildlife conservation.
