Luca Zingaretti is a graduate of the Silvio d'Amico Academy for Dramatic Art. He has played numerous characters on the stage in both classical and contemporary works, occasionally directing himself. Zingaretti did two films with leading social themes: Il branco by Marco Risi and Vite strozzate by Ricky Tognazzi. He played the lead in the TV film series Il Commissario Montalbano based on the novels by Andrea Camilleri. The documentary Gulu is the first film he has directed for the big screen.
