Eli Hayes graduated from Ithaca College He became interested in the world of cinema during his teenage years, upon viewing the works of directors like Andrei Tarkovsky, Terrence Malick and Lynne Ramsay. He directed various short like Nobody (2012), Vanished (2013), Eye Contact (2014), Son and Moon (2016), Dancing with Shadows (2017).
