Teaches ethnology and visual anthropology at the University of Turin. She collaborates with RAI on creating TV programs and ethnographic documentaries; she conducts ethnographic research in east-central Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda). Since 2001 she is director of the Italian Ethnological Mission in Equatorial Africa (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). A prolific journal and book author, her publications include Filmare le culture. Un’introduzione all’antropologia visiva (2005) and Kubandwa. La possessione spiritica nell’Africa dei Grandi Laghi (2013).
