An environmental engineer, he began collaborating with Legambiente in 1998 during his national civil service stint. At Legambiente he was a member of the scientific committee (2006-2011), vice president (2011-2015), general director (2015-2018), and is currently president. He was a member of the workgroup Mafie and the environment of the StatiGenerali in the war against crime, established by the Ministry of Justice in 2017, consultant to the Parliamentary Commission on investigation into waste recycling (14th legislature, 2001-2006), and member of the Committee on e-waste management, Ministry of the Environment.
