Johan von Mirbach earned a degree in Regional Sciences of Latin America, worked in Cologne as journalist and multimedia consultant for radio/TV. In 2010 he conducted a research project on commercial issues in Ghana. He debuted as director with The Downfall of the Middle Class (2012) for ARTE, followed by Transoceanica Series ... the World's Longest Bus Ride (2016), and Priceless Pills (2017).
